Sweet and Spicy Slow Cooker Chili Recipe

This chili has the perfect balance of sweetness and heat! And really everything else... it's simply my favorite!

- 2 Tbsp olive oil
- 1 orange bell pepper diced
- 1 red bell pepper diced
- 1 large sweet onion diced
- 2 Tbsp garlic minced
- 1 jalapeno minced
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 lb hot Italian sausage
- 6 oz tomato paste
- 15 oz tomato sauce
- 16 oz dark red kidney beans drained and rinsed
- 22 oz Bush's Grillin' Beans bourbon & brown sugar
- 1/2-2/3 cup brown sugar
- 1 1/2 cups water
- 1/4-1/2 tsp crushed red pepper
- 1 Tbsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp chili powder
- 1 Tbsp paprika
- 1 tsp black pepper
- 1 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp cayenne pepper
In a large skillet over medium heat, add olive oil
Add the onion and bell peppers and cook until the onion is translucent (about 8 minutes)
Add the garlic and jalapeƱo and cook for another minute
Remove from heat and transfer mixture to your slow cooker
Add the ground beef and sausage to the same skillet on medium heat
Break up meat into small pieces and cook until no longer pink. Drain the fat.
Place the cooked meat in the slow cooker
Add all of the remaining ingredients to the slow cooker
Cover and cook on low heat for 4 hours. Stir every so often.
